We are social workers, birth parents, grand parents and other relatives, foster and adoptive parents, child welfare advocates, and others in communities throughout the U.S. who wish to ensure that all children receive basic human rights and dignified treatment in their homes and foster care systems.
What We Do
We were founded after Shirley Tabb was fired from her job after nearly 14 years at the District of Columbia Child and Family Services Agency (CFSA). Director Brenda Donald Walker fired her for exposing child maltreatment inside the District government agency mandated to serve and protect abused and neglected children.
Social workers removed children from their families for abuse and neglect, only to drop them off at the agency with no place to sleepand leaving them homeless, due to a lack of emergency foster families.
Children had no place to sleep in the agency and were left defenseless in a strange building around strange people with no comforts of home. The conditions were inhumane and demoralizing.
We also promote the need and joys of fostering and adopting children in the US. To become a foster or adoptive parent in the District of Columbia or any other state, please click here email us.
